JUMP GALA GRAND OPENING

Friday, Dec 4th and Saturday Dec 5th will forever be etched in our minds as "THE" Gala Grand Opening Event of 2015. It was the private and then 'by invitation only' grand opening of JUMP (aka: Jack's Urban Meeting Place) in Boise, Idaho. We had great team on hand to both film and photograph the festivities and to also produce and run the screen show for the stage show on the big screen in the Pioneer Room on the 6th floor. Both nights were spectacular in their own way. We look forward to sharing some amazing pictures and video from both nights in the near future including surprising interviews with VIP guests.

And....ACTION!

Do what we say, not....etc.

As many websites that Viral Intermedia has created, maintains, and supports; and all the preaching that we do about keeping your site and your social media updated and relevant - alas, we are guilty of transgressing those very same ideals.

Although VIP has been very busy in the past year, we have, embarrassingly, neglected our own website and social media channels.

In a perfect world, we would take a week and get everything polished up and up to speed. We have, however, little time before heading off on our next big project - working on a full length narrative feature film down in the gulf coast states (Mississippi and Alabama). So for now, we will pick up the VIP story line from here and add in the missing pieces as time permits.

Although we are thrilled to be part of a feature film production, it is not our own project and we are not yet at liberty to disclose the details. Once we get the okay - we will begin documenting the project and sharing the experience with you. It is our hope that you will find the process as fascinating as we do and that you will, in turn, share it with your friends, family and social network.

Here's hoping VIP 'breaks a leg'!

(knock on wood that no actual production crew members and / or actors are harmed during the filming of this feature :) )

'Add The Words' is an Official Bend Film Festival Selection!

Our documentary film. 'Add The Words' has been selected to premiere at the prestigious Bend Film Festival.

The film was four months in the making (fast by film making standards) and was originally test screened in Boise, Idaho at the Egyptian Theater on Father's Day 2014 to a sold out crowd.

"Since 2006 the LGBT community and human rights supporters have asked Idaho lawmakers to add the words sexual orientation and gender identity to the Idaho Human Rights Act. It is still lawful in 18 states to fire someone or refuse services or housing because of how they identify.

For 8 years Idaho Activists were told, "we can't this year because of the political climate. Be patient, and we will get to it next year." However, the time for patience has now ended!

With their left hands covering their mouths to symbolize how Idaho legislators have worked to silence them, they have begun an effective civil disobedience campaign. This documentary is their story."

For a full list of credits and screening information please visit the official website for 'Add The Words' or our IMDb listing.

Guilty Humor

About 8 months ago I was at a party with a group of my wife's co-workers and their friends. I say 'their' friends because I don't see these wonderful folks on a regular basis but look forward to meeting up for special occasions and holidays. As happens to me often, someone asked me what I did for a living and once it was discovered that I produce video they proceeded to tell me how they had some friends that I should talk to. My standard operating procedure is to give them a business card and recommend they have their friend call me. This has happened a number of times and usually one of two things result: 1. The 'friend' never contacts me or 2. The friend does contact me and is excited to offer me the best deal ever: If I will foot the production bill and create their vision we will all make tons of money on the back-end. Although they have not the slightest doubt that their idea will take off in a viral way; they have been, up to this point, unable to raise any funds to get started and that's where they hope I will step up and partner with them. This is called a 'Blue Sky' deal and I am hesitant to confess I have went down that road a number of times - it ALWAYS rains on my parade! Something ALWAYS goes wrong and the project ALWAYS goes south. Except.....

This time the friend that had a 'friend' is a pretty sharp guy. He's a firefighter and that always gets you extra points from the get go in my book. Secondly, his 'friend' DID call and we had a great conversation. He asked if I had looked at any of their previous productions - I had not so he suggested that perhaps I should do so before continuing our conversation - which I did.

They were AWESOME! The website is GuiltyHumor.com. I halfheartedly went to their site with the intention of watching one clip and ended up watching all of them! It is difficult to make me laugh and I was in tears by the time I was done. In a nutshell I was hooked. I immediately called back and asked what the concept was that they wanted help producing.

"We want to make a rap anthem music video featuring.... Jesus Christ", said Matt Haught (1/2 of the Guilty Humor Team along with Josh Zimmerly).

"uh-oh", I said nervously replied.

Long story short: I agreed to do it. We decided that Easter Morning would be the most appropriate day to launch the video and went to work getting it on camera. To see the teaser, please visit our website and to watch the world wide premiere of 'Jesus Christ Rap Superstar", please tune in at GuiltyHumor's Facebook Fanpage on Sunday April 24th, 2011.

I shot Larry Gebert 3 Times....

2010 0830 KTVB Larry Gebert
This week as I ventured around Boise, looking for material for 208tv, I ran into Idaho's favorite weather man and KTVB icon - Larry Gebert 3 times: Once at the Treasure Valley United Way Flapjack Feed, once at the 2nd Annual Boise Curb Cup and then this morning (at about 5:30AM) on my way to work he was taping around the corner from our studio. With all the lights, remote van and hulabaloo going on, I thought I'd stop and check things out. First of all HE remembered me from all three previous encounters in the last week which I find incredible given that he has spoken to or seen everyone in Idaho at least once and add to that the first to times we were at events that had thousands of people milling about. How can this guy remember who he ran into an hour ago let alone a week ago? Well...between shots, Larry came over and talked to me. He asked about my business, he gave me advice about the new show we are producing, and he clowned it up when I asked if I could take a couple pictures while he worked. How does he remember people? He is a great guy with a loving heart towards the community he serves - thats my take on Larry Gebert.

2010 0814 Boardstock 2010 - Broadside Harbor

Got a tip from Jenna Hines that there was a wake board competition out in Caldwell. We were unaware of any lake worthy of a comp in Caldwell so we had to go check it out. It turned out to be a great day! made some great connections with Idaho Water Sports and the Virus 99.1

Broadside Harbor is really an amazing man made lake in a backyard and we look forward to filming there again in the future.

Treasure Valley 3rd Annual Flapjack Feed

(Click the slide show to see or download pictures)

If there is a community more vibrant, joyful, connected, supportive and compassionate than Boise, Idaho – I wanna know about it!
I attended the Treasure Valley United Way’s 3rd Annual Flapjack feed this morning and was bowled over by the love. I felt connected to my community and proud to be a Boisean. I’ll estimate there were a thousand plus people there while my buddy, Homer and I were enjoying the breakfast feast. We arrived an hour after the start so people were leaving and even more coming in as we gorged on delicious pancakes, eggs, cheesy potatoes and every kind of fruit dish imaginable – all for $5.
Channel 7 (KTVB) were there and the event was hosted by the beautiful Carolyn Holly and the inimitable Larry Gebert; both are popular beloved Treasure Valley icons.
The event was both entertaining and educational as the United way premiered their latest video depicting the stats of issues challenging our community and the intentions of United Way to address those issues.
